Katrina Lucero

Katrina is CEO of Anamoya, where she works on the operational and technical side of building the resort.

She is a U.S. Army veteran and a lifelong entrepreneur, the kind who has always gravitated toward work where she could set her own hours, choose her own clients, and decide which jobs were worth taking. Over the years that's meant a swim instruction business, a stint as a photographer (by her own admission, not a great one), copywriting, art (also, by her own admission, no Picasso), nannying, and a vintage clothing store, among other things. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Database Management.

She spent nearly a decade in tech, first as a Digital Forensic Analyst and later as a Solutions Engineer, work that put her closer than most to just how much of daily life had quietly become data. The more she saw how easily people were willing to digitize themselves, the more she noticed the tradeoff: more devices, less actual connection to the people around them. That realization is a big part of where Anamoya came from, not a rejection of technology so much as a desire to be unreachable every so often, and fully present with whatever, or whoever, is in front of her.

She has lived in China, Colombia, and Albania, and has traveled through dozens of other countries, picking up Mandarin along the way, a skill she now mostly puts to use ordering Chinese food.
